Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dardanelle). They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over the Waldron Bulldogs on Friday. The Sand Lizards haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Kam Olson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dardanelle is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Olson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Cam Evans and Scout Bull did most of the damage at the plate: Evans went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Bull scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those five RBI gave Evans a new career-high. Restin Robinson was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Dardanelle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Dardanelle's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Waldron, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Looking ahead, Dardanelle is taking a road trip to square off against Rose Bud at 5:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Waldron, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mena at 4:30 p.m. on April 1.
