Baseball Recap: Overfelt Has No Trouble Against Gunderson

Overfelt was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Gunderson on Tuesday. The Royals put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 9-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

BRIAN BECERRA DADO was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off nine hits. BECERRA DADO was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Overfelt's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 3-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, ELIJAH CASTANEDA-AZCUETA and BRANDON GONZALEZ did most of the damage at the plate: CASTANEDA-AZCUETA went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one double, while GONZALEZ went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs GONZALEZ has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of ALFREDO GALLEGOS MEDINA, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Overfelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gunderson only posted an OBP of .310.

Overfelt is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Gunderson, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-11.

Overfelt didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 victory against San Jose on the 8th. As for Gunderson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 16-4 win against James Lick on the 8th.
