While the Franklin Panthers couldn't quite beat the Eagle Rock Eagles on Wednesday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 29-point defeat they were dealt last Saturday. Franklin fell just short of Eagle Rock by a score of 43-41. Franklin has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ariana Pinedo, who scored 13 points. Pinedo is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Toni Vizcaino, who scored ten points.
Eagle Rock's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nylah Moore, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Brooklyn Romero was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals.
Franklin's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4. As for Eagle Rock, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Franklin will head out on the road to face off against Bravo at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Bravo is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Eagle Rock will take on Marshall at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Marshall will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 788th, while Eagle Rock is ranked 238th).
