Muncie Central is 0-10 against Richmond since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Bearcats will face off against the Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. Richmond took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Muncie Central, who comes in off a win.
Muncie Central barely beat Muncie Burris the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bearcats were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Owls on Saturday. The Bearcats haven't had any issues with the Owls recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Parker Shelley was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Muncie Central is 4-2 when Shelley posts two or more runs, but 0-17 otherwise.

In other batting news, Ryan Graham and Gage Emberton did most of the damage at the plate: Graham went 1-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs, while Emberton went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Graham a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashtin Mullis, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI and one triple.
Meanwhile, Richmond fell victim to Hagerstown and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 13-0 to the Tigers. The Red Devils have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Muncie Central picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-19. As for Richmond, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-14.
Muncie Central came up short against Richmond in their previous meeting back in April, falling 6-3. Can the Bearcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
