Jefferson is 2-8 against Westmoor since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Jefferson Grizzlies will head out on the road to take on the Westmoor Rams at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Jefferson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Jefferson came up short against El Camino and fell 59-46. Jefferson has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Erin Panaligan, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. Grace Wang was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Westmoor had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 46-35 victory over Capuchino. Given Westmoor's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while Capuchino is ranked 1006th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Westmoor, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Jefferson came up short against Westmoor in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 40-33. Can Jefferson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
