Even though the Eastside Lions have not done well against the Lancaster Eagles recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Eastside walked away with a 44-35 victory over Lancaster. This was payback for Eastside, who suffered a 42-27 loss the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eastside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayla Correa , who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Aprill Medrano, who scored 13 points.
Eastside's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Lancaster, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastside will square off against Antelope Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Antelope Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eastside in California (Antelope Valley is ranked 292nd, while Eastside is ranked 648th). As for Lancaster, they will head out on the road to face off against Quartz Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
