After flying high against Neumann Regional Academy last Saturday, South Williamsport came back down to earth. The South Williamsport Mountaineers took a hard 39-20 fall against the Bloomsburg Panthers on Monday. Despite the defeat, South Williamsport saw an underclassman step up: freshman Carly Quimby posted five points and seven rebounds. Those seven boards gave Quimby a new career-high.
Leading Bloomsburg to victory were Delaney Zentner and Bella Pistoia. Zentner went 6-for-13 en route to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals, while Pistoia earned nine points along with eight boards and six assists. Zentner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Maclay, who scored five points and nine rebounds.
South Williamsport's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Bloomsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.
South Williamsport wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-55 defeat against Central Mountain on the 13th. As for Bloomsburg, they have also already played their next contest, a 46-33 win against Benton on the 12th.
