Crisp County can attribute much of their success to Zakariyya Dwight, who dropped a triple-double on 23 points, 15 boards, and 12 blocks, and Courtney Oliver 4, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 20 points. Dwight has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 19 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Lofton, who posted four points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cook suffered their closest loss since February 9, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Brooks County by a score of 52-49. While the Hornets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 18-12 in the first quarter.
Crisp County will need focus on slowing down Tucker Rountree, one of several Cook players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 21 points and 20 boards. That was a full 42.9% of Cook's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Thompson J.R., who went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points.
Crisp County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.1 points per game. As for Cook, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
Crisp County came up short against Cook in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 54-48. Thankfully for Crisp County, Punch Byron (who went 9 of 12 on his way to 23 points and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
