The Banning Broncos lost against the Twentynine Palms Wildcats back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Banning was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to Twentynine Palms. Banning has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Banning lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maryanne Palacios. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points. That was a full 40.5% of Banning's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Symora Prince was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Banning has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Twentynine Palms, their win bumped their record up to 9-14.
Banning will head out on the road to face off against Yucca Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Yucca Valley will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. Twentynine Palms will take on Beaumont at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Beaumont knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Twentynine Palms likes a good challenge.
