The Deer Lakes Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss. The match between Deer Lakes and Ligonier Valley wasn't particularly close, with Deer Lakes falling 48-31. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Deer Lakes of the 58-43 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on January 2nd.
Ligonier Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marlee Miller led the charge by scoring 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydnee Foust, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Deer Lakes dropped their record down to 4-13 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Ligonier Valley, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deer Lakes will take on Mt. Pleasant at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Ligonier Valley, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against United at 7:15 p.m. on January 26th. United presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ligonier Valley in Pennsylvania (United is ranked 131st, while Ligonier Valley is ranked 482nd).
