In what's become a running theme this season, the Village Christian Crusaders gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Whittier Christian 70-37 on the road. 70 seems to be a good number for Village Christian as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Leading Village Christian to victory were Madison Mulligan and Alanna Neale. Mulligan scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Neale dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Neale hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. Moriah Mosley was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Whittier Christian saw an underclassman step up: Ariana Botello scored 20 points. Botello has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last five times she's played.
Village Christian pushed their record up to 19-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for Whittier Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-8.
Village Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. Lynwood is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for Whittier Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Minutemen at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Maranatha will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 781st, while the Heralds are ranked 328th).
