The girls soccer team from Highland Park capped an unbeaten, untied season with a 5-3 victory over Aledo to capture the UIL Class 5A state title Saturday at Georgetown's Birkelbach Field.
The state title is a record-equalizing sixth for the Scots' girls soccer program and fourth since 2000. Plano West girls and Plano boys also have six UIL state titles.
Two other girls teams and three boys teams also earned state titles in the four-day event.
Stephenville and Hendrickson became first-time girls champions in Class 4A and 6A, respectively.
Jesuit and Wakeland earned the boys Class 6A and 5A crowns, repeating a double that happened in 2010. It is the second UIL title for both. Including competition before entering the UIL, Jesuit's state title count is 19.
Kilgore, making its third consecutive state final four, broke through to capture its first state title in boys 4A.

Class 4A
Stephenville 2, Boerne 1: Savannah Alford converted a first-half goal on
Haleigh Beam's corner and
Madison Carter snapped a 1-1 tie with the game-winner for Stephenville (25-4). The state title was the first for the Honeybees, making their first state final four.
Paige Marcell, with an assist by
Cassie Naiser, accounted for the goal by Boerne (21-5-1).

Raul Cedillo's shootout goal clinched victory and the state title for Kilgore (21-5-2). Kilgore converted on all four shootout attempts. Bridgeport (19-4-5) hit its first two and missed on its final two. Kilgore, making its third consecutive final-four appearance, received goals from freshman
Wanya McIntyre and sophomore
Elian Torres in regulation.
Jovany Gonzalez had an assist. Bridgeport equalized on goals by
Miguel Olmos and
Juan Amador.
Rigoberto Alvarez had an assist. All of the scoring in regulation came in the first half.
