The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Carson came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Fountain Valley is ranked 463rd).
Despite the loss, Carson still got an impressive performance from Madison Wheeler, who scored 13 points along with 9 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Monica Hayden, who scored 4 points along with 10 rebounds.
Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Fountain Valley, they pushed their record up to 4-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carson will face off against Wilson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fountain Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Lakewood at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Lakewood will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
