Halifax is 8-2 against Newport since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Halifax Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Newport Buffaloes at 7:30 p.m. Halifax comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Halifax suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were dealt a 67-24 loss at the hands of Juniata. While losing is never fun, Halifax can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 675th, while Juniata is ranked 287th).
Meanwhile, Newport's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Susquenita 44-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Newport has suffered against Susquenita since January 22, 2021.
Halifax's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Newport, they bumped their record down to 2-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Halifax suffered a grim 43-22 defeat to Newport when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Halifax avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
