In what's become a running theme this season, the Northwest Halifax Vikings gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Weldon with a sharp 55-35 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Northwest Halifax has posted since December 5, 2023.
It was another big night for Camaya Adkins, who scored 30 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Northwest Halifax's points. Aleigha Allen was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.
Weldon's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaelyn Johnson, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Johnson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kamya Coles, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Northwest Halifax's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Weldon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.
Northwest Halifax will be playing at home against Warren County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Warren County is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Weldon won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Northampton County at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Northampton County will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
