The Elkhorn South Storm's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 49-39 to Gretna East.
Elkhorn South's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mollie Probasco, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowan Swartz, who scored eight points.
Elkhorn South has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Gretna East, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Elkhorn South is on the road again on Saturday and plays Burke at 2:45 p.m. on February 10th. Burke is coming into the game with five straight losses at home, meaning Elkhorn South will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. Gretna East will take on Lincoln High at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln High will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Gretna East is ranked 40th).
