Newington has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Middletown Blue Dragons at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Newington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
Last Friday, Newington was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 40-39 to Edwin O. Smith.
Bela Cucuta put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Kendall Miller, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Middletown had to endure a three-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They blew past Maloney, posting a 73-26 victory on the road. The win was just what Middletown needed coming off of a 70-46 loss in their prior matchup.
Newington's loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1. As for Middletown, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Newington strolled past Middletown in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 62-47. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Middletown's Jada Bryant, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Newington to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
