Softball Recap: Sarasota Snags Ninth Win in Last 11 Games

There's no place like home for Sarasota, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Braden River Pirates with a sharp 17-0 win on Wednesday. The Sailors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Tyler Sciesinski was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sciesinski was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Sommer Speers and Mady Pint did most of the damage at the plate: Speers went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Pint went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Speers has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gia Depastino, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Sarasota always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Braden River only posted an OBP of .100.

Sarasota has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Braden River, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

Sarasota wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-8 win against Lakewood Ranch on the 22nd. As for Braden River, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-0 victory against Bayshore on the 21st.
