The Newport Buffaloes lost against the Greenwood Wildcats back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Newport had to suffer through a rough 60-22 loss at the hands of Greenwood. Newport has not had much luck with Greenwood recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Bekah Brinser was her usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals for Greenwood. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for her. Sylvia Gantt was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Newport's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Greenwood, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Newport will look to defend their home court on Monday against Upper Dauphin Area at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Upper Dauphin Area focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. Greenwood won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Tri-Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Tri-Valley comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
