Softball Game Preview: Beckman Trailblazers vs. Cascade Cougars

Beckman has gone a perfect 3-0 against Cascade recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Trailblazers will head out to take on the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Beckman's victory against Monticello wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trailblazers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Trailblazers, who have now won five contests in a row.

Meanwhile, Cascade came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Huskies, sneaking past 5-3.

Beckman's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cascade, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Everything went Beckman's way against Cascade when the teams last played back in June of 2018, as Beckman made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trailblazers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
