Oregon-Davis dropped to 5-17 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Westville Blackhawks by a score of 9-7. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Blackhawks from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.
Andrew Siroky and Brady Danford stepped up to the plate in a big way. Siroky got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Danford got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was Danford's first of the season. Hudson Danford was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
As for Westville, they pushed their record up to 8-12 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.
On Westville's side, Jackson Pilarski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Pilarski has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Seth Stachniak was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryder Becker, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Coming up, Oregon-Davis will challenge Tri-Township at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Westville, they will square off against South Bend Riley at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.38 runs per game on average), something the Blackhawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
