Softball Recap: Pawhuska Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Pawhuska had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Woodland on Tuesday. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Cougars. Considering the Huskies have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Preslee Long was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Long was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Emillie Curry was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-2. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Drummond, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Pawhuska kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive games.

Pawhuska is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Woodland, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-18-1.

Pawhuska has already played their next matchup, an 18-0 victory against Nowata on the 17th. As for Woodland, they will face off against Barnsdall at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
