After flying high against the San Pasqual Golden Eagles on Monday, the Tri-City Christian Eagles came back down to earth. Tri-City Christian was dealt a 62-32 defeat at the hands of Escondido Charter on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tri-City Christian in their matchups with Escondido Charter: they've now lost five in a row.
Katie Busch and Talia Anthony certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Busch scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Anthony scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Anthony scored a full 34.4% of Tri-City Christian's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Tri-City Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Kami Gillis, who scored 22 points along with seven steals and six rebounds for Escondido Charter. Gillis is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Harper Mowrey, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Tri-City Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4. As for Escondido Charter, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
Tri-City Christian will be playing at home against Orange Glen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Escondido Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Maranatha Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
