Baseball Recap: Carmel Wins Going Away Against Morro Bay

With a playoff win on the line, Carmel rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They blew past the Morro Bay Pirates 9-0. Considering the Padres have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Matt Maxon was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Bo Lewis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Carmel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morro Bay only posted a batting average of .136.

Carmel is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Morro Bay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 25-8.

Looking ahead, Carmel will square off against Rancho Cotate at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Morro Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
