Softball Recap: Chadron Wins Going Away Against Bayard

Chadron won the last time they faced Bayard and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cardinals blew past the Tigers 13-1. Considering the Cardinals have won four matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Cali Hendrickson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hendrickson was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jae Gooder, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Rylan Barry was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Chadron was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .351 or higher in six consecutive games.

Chadron is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Bayard, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Chadron has already played their next matchup, a 16-7 win against Highway 6 on the 6th. As for Bayard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 8-4 victory against Limon on the 6th.
