The Towanda Black Knights lost against the Troy Trojans back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Towanda fell 46-33 to Troy. While losing is never fun, Towanda can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 435th, while Troy is ranked 180th).
Troy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kailyn Sterling, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Sterling has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gloria Andrews, who scored eight points along with eight steals.
Towanda has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Troy, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 18-3.
Towanda will head out on the road to face off against North Penn-Mansfield at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Troy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 40-37 win vs. Milton on the 10th.
