After a string of three wins, The Bishop Ireton Cardinals''s good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a serious blow against St. Mary's Ryken, falling 54-24. Bishop Ireton has struggled against St. Mary's Ryken recently, as their game on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Defeat or not, Bishop Ireton got some senior leadership from Omar Diallo who rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.0 yards per carry and Aaron Rocke who gained 143 total yards and two touchdowns. Diallo was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards.
Bishop Ireton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for St. Mary's Ryken, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-5.
Bishop Ireton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Mary's Ryken will be playing at home against Paul VI at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Paul VI is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
