The Riverside Prep Silver Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Bloomington Bruins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Riverside Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Riverside Prep not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2025 (when they won 38-0). Everything went their way against Hesperia Christian as they made off with a 33-1 victory. The Silver Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Andrew Logsdon and Trent Bourgeois did most of the damage at the plate: Logsdon went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases, while Bourgeois went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Logsdon has posted since back in April of 2025. Nate Martinez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Riverside Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Bloomington was able to grind out a solid win over West Valley on Tuesday, taking the game 7-4.
Isaac Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Carlos Perez-Quintero got the start for Bloomington and what a start it was: he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Perez-Quintero has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Bloomington let Nathan Martin and Benjamin Ibanez run wild. Martin went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Ibanez went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Andrew Velazquez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Riverside Prep's record is now 6-9. As for Bloomington, their record now sits at 12-3.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Riverside Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. However, it's not like Bloomington struggles in that department as they've averaged .433. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
