After a string of four wins, the Cypress Centurions's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 57-47 to Crean Lutheran. While losing is never fun, Cypress can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Saints are ranked 100th).
Cypress' loss came despite strong showings from Sara Shigekawa and Lauryn Nakamura. Shigekawa scored 19 points, while Nakamura scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shigekawa has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Caceres, who scored four points along with three blocks.
Cypress' loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-12. As for Crean Lutheran, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Cypress will take on the Mariners at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Crean Lutheran, they will head out on the road to square off against the Tillers at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
