On Wednesday, the McKinley Tech Trainers faced the School Without Walls Penguins in a battle between two of the state's top teams. McKinley Tech came out on top in a nail-biter against School Without Walls and snuck past 40-38. The victory was just what McKinley Tech needed coming off of a 59-34 loss in their prior matchup.
McKinley Tech was led to victory by Leria Amah and Jemima Bomoyi. Amah dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Bomoyi scored 12 points along with nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Amah has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Chiagoziem Njoku, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
McKinley Tech now has a winning record of 8-7. As for School Without Walls, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McKinley Tech will take on Dunbar at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for School Without Walls, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Banneker at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (Banneker is ranked eighth, while School Without Walls is ranked 16th).
