Video: Xcellent 25 Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard - Oct. 31No. 2 IMG Academy and No. 6 Grayson both had to travel out-of-state on Friday night and it wasn't an issue for either team.
The Ascenders rolled to a dominant 34-0 shutout win in Southern California against Long Beach Poly and the Rams made sure Hoover wasn't sneaking into the top 25 this week after snapping the Bucs' seven-game winning streak with a 36-14 victory.
Twenty-two of the top 25 teams were in action this past weekend, and Allen was the only one not to win by double-digits. The Eagles switch spots with Grayson this week, and not because the Eagles squeaked by with a 38-31 win against a very good Plano East team, but because of the way the Rams beat Hoover in its own backyard. Both of Hoover's losses this season have come to Allen and Grayson - the Eagles beat Hoover by 18 back at home in August, and the Rams by 22 this past weekend on the road.
Four teams began postseason play, as Detroit power Cass Tech had no trouble beating Fordson 35-7, Indiana power Warren Central won its eighth-straight game with a 49-17 win against Franklin Central, and two Utah schools, Bingham and East, won by a combined 90 points to advance to the second round of the 5A and 4A state playoffs, respectively.
