The Irvine Vaqueros will face off against the University Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Irvine 4, University 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Irvine and Northwood had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Irvine came out on top against Northwood by a score of 4-1 on Friday. The game was the first time the Vaqueros have beaten the Timberwolves on their field since March 27, 2023.

Adam Valencia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up seven Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Irvine's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, Irvine's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Hall, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Hall also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
Meanwhile, University won against St. Margaret's on Wednesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. University never let St. Margaret's get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Andrew Shean made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on David Wu, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Luke Emrich, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Irvine's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7. As for University, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Irvine skirted past University 3-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does Irvine have another victory up their sleeve, or will University turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
