The Roma Gladiators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 57-35 defeat at the hands of Palmview. While losing is never fun, Roma can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1407th, while Palmview is ranked 453rd).
Leading Palmview to victory were Adrian Ibarra and Joe Gonzalez. Ibarra scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Gonzalez scored 20 points along with five assists. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Gonzalez has scored at least 25% of Palmview's points. Jaziel Martinez was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Roma bumped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Palmview, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.
Roma will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Martin at 7:30 p.m. As for Palmview, they will head out on the road to face off against Juarez-Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
