Wabasso added to the longest winning streak in Southern Minnesota this week by beating Red Rock Central, 34-8. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Sleepy Eye fell to Martin County West 62-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Springfield's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Carter Erickson threw for 101 yards and Tyler Vogel had 68 yards receiving. On the ground Nick Runck chipped in 202 yards. Cooper Scheffler helped Springfield's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 33 yards.
Runck provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Tigers beat Cedar Mountain/Comfrey. Runck's favorite target this week was Vogel, who caught 3 passes for 68 yards.
Runck was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 202 yards on 26 carries as Springfield defeated the Cougars. Justin Macht also contributed to the rushing game with 92 yards on the ground.
Springfield's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Erickson has thrown for 539 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, while Vogel has 10 catches for 191 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Wabasso takes on the Mavericks. Joe Kemp's team is in first place, while Martin County West is in third place.
