For the second straight game, Thacher will face off against St. Bonaventure. The Toads will be playing at home against the Seraphs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Thacher 3, St. Bonaventure 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Tuesday, Thacher came up short against St. Bonaventure and fell 8-3. The loss continues a trend for the Toads in their meetings with the Seraphs: they've now lost five in a row.
For St. Bonaventure's part, Masiah Merricks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Merricks was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Rowen Kaiser was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Wyatt Richardson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
St. Bonaventure hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive contests.
St. Bonaventure pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Thacher, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Thacher has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like St. Bonaventure struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
