Baseball Recap: Pomona Comes Up Short

Pomona dropped down to 3-6-1 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 12-1 to the Colony Titans. The Red Devils were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Titans' pitcher proved too tough.

As for Colony, they now have a winning record of 8-7-1. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

For Colony's part, Gunner Montez spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. Montez has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Angel Serna was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Brody Litwin was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pomona will challenge Southlands Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.79 runs per game on average), something the Red Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Colony, they will head out to face off against Don Lugo at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
