Baseball Recap: Buchholz Wins Going Away Against Pace

With a playoff win on the line, Buchholz rose to the challenge on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Pace Patriots with a sharp 11-2 victory. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Wyatt Clarke looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Buchholz let Roen Kresak and Hudson Sapp run wild. Kresak went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run, while Sapp went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Sapp a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kai So, who went 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI.

Buchholz's win bumped their record up to 31-2. As for Pace, the loss snapped their winning streak at 12 games and leaves them with a 25-5 record.

Buchholz will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
