While it was all tied up 15-15 at halftime, the Banner County Wildcats were not quite the Creek Valley Storm's equal in the second half on Monday. They took a 43-27 bruising from the Storm. Banner County has not had much luck with Creek Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, Banner County saw an underclassman step up: Leeigh McGowan dropped a double-double on 16 points and 18 rebounds. That was a full 59.3% of Banner County's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Ella Whiting had a dynamite game for Creek Valley, scoring 22 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whiting has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Speirs, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Banner County's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Creek Valley, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11.
Banner County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Crawford on February 6th. Hopefully Banner County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 49 on Monday.
