The Grovetown Warriors will head out to square off against the Archer Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Grovetown is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against South Gwinnett on Friday as Grovetown made off with an 11-5 win. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won three in a row.

Brodie Combs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last five games. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.
In other batting news, Jack Powell and Landon Robert did most of the damage at the plate: Powell scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Robert scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs Powell has posted since back in February of 2024. Bobby Whitley also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Archer got the win against Rockdale County on Friday by a conclusive 20-7. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.
Ryan McCallion looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Sean Gates was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Grant Thurmond, who scored four runs while going 3-for-5.
The win made it two in a row for Archer and bumps their season record up to 9-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.5 runs. As for Grovetown, their record is now 6-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Grovetown has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Archer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
