Jackson is 0-3 against Creekside since October of 2022 but things could change on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Jackson will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points on October 3rd, then bounced right back against Forest Park last Friday. The Jaguars breezed past the Panthers to the tune of 49-6. The Jaguars' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Jackson found their leader in sophomore Marcus Gray, who rushed for 11 yards and three scores, and also threw for 177 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine passes. Another player making a difference was Triston Ferguson, who rushed for 129 yards and one TD while picking up 8.1 yards per carry.
Jackson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Meanwhile, Creekside put their dominant defense on display in the team's fifth consecutive shutout last Friday. They claimed a resounding 91-0 win over Drew. The victory continues a trend for the Seminoles in their matchups with Drew: they've now won four in a row.
Jackson better keep an eye on Ced Kelley. He was instrumental in Creekside's win, rushing for 108 yards and five touchdowns on only seven carries. Those five rushing touchdowns gave Kelley a new career-high. Gary Walker was another key player, rushing for 90 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Creekside's defense and their 5.1 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Cassius Burch and Tavarre Terrell, who racked up four sacks between them. Terrell is crushing it when it comes to sacks: he's posted at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Creekside received some extra help from Burch, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Creekside, racking up 19 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kelley, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Jackson's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Creekside, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
