Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plainfield North). They put the hurt on the Joliet Central Steelmen with a sharp 17-4 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Plainfield North has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Joliet Central, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-11.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Plainfield North is set to take on their familiar foe Plainfield Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.4, the Wildcats 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Joliet Central will challenge rival Yorkville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
