If the Escondido Cougars were feeling good off their 58-28 takedown of the Ramona Bulldogs last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Escondido was dealt a 52-17 defeat at the hands of Fallbrook on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 58 points in the game before, Escondido couldn't push the score so high this time.
Despite the defeat, Escondido had strong showings from Jasmine Reyes, who scored eight points, and Anaya McGlory, who scored nine points.
It was another big night for Claire Nordeen, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds for Fallbrook. Nordeen has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 18 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Thomas, who scored five points along with six steals.
Escondido's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-12. As for Fallbrook, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-7.
Escondido does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fallbrook, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Imperial at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Imperial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
