Richlands had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-3 to make it four. They came up short against the Dixon Bulldogs, falling 23-5. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 7-0 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Kyler Ornoski made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Brayden Duke also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
As for Dixon, the win got them back to even at 2-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Dixon's side, Trent Leal and Chris Guslander made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Leal tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Guslander struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Leal went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Guslander got on base in three of his six plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Nick Lacugna was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. Drew Barren was another key player, getting on base in five of his seven plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Richlands has already played their next matchup, a 5-0 loss against East Duplin on the 9th. As for Dixon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Jacksonville on the 10th.
