The More Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Silver Creek Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, More made easy work of Summit Tahoma and carried off a 19-1 win.
Zep Cortese and Anthony Selway made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Cortese struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Selway struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Cortese went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Selway went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Selway has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Sean Selway was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Tim Bumb was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
More always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .775. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Silver Creek got the win against James Lick on Tuesday by a conclusive 23-3.
Like More, Silver Creek also got a great game from a two-way player: Michael Fonseca. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Fonseca was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Silver Creek got a massive performance out of Giovanni Mejia, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Robert 'Bobby' Resendez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
More has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Silver Creek, their record now sits at 21-5.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. More has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. However, it's not like Silver Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .527. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
More skirted past Silver Creek 4-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
