The Greenbrier West Cavaliers won the last time they faced the Richwood Lumberjacks, and things went their way on Friday too. Greenbrier West breezed by Richwood at home to the tune of 82-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Greenbrier West has posted against Richwood since April 20, 2021.
Several Lumberjacks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trae Trivolette, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Trivolette scored 15 or more points. Dalton Spencer was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Greenbrier West has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Richwood, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenbrier West will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Midland Trail at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Richwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Highland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 376th in Virginia, while Richwood is ranked 120th in West Virginia).
