The Oakmont Vikings will challenge the Colfax Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colfax took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Oakmont, who comes in off a win.
Oakmont took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Lincoln with a sharp 14-4 victory.
Brayden Saucedo spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Oakmont is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 9-14 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Matthew Aguas was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Oakmont's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-14 when he doesn't). Aaron Martin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Oakmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Colfax was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 14-1 to Wheatland. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 21, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Colfax saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Arteaga, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Oakmont is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Colfax, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Oakmont has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Colfax struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Oakmont got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Colfax by a conclusive 6-0 score. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
