Northside Methodist Academy has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Ashford Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 56-21, which was the final score in Northside Methodist Academy's tilt against Straughn on Friday. Northside Methodist Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-7.
Meanwhile, Ashford was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 30-26 to New Brockton.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Braylon Bigham, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown. Bigham was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylan Peterman, who picked up 36 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Northside Methodist Academy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Straughn, Houston Academy, and Providence Christian. As for Ashford, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
