Make it 11 blowout wins for the Chino Cowboys this season. They blew past Don Lugo 62-16 on the road on Wednesday. Chino is really starting to get used to good results now that the team's won 12 straight.
Chino's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tess Oldenburg led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Oldenburg hasn't dropped below three blocks for ten straight games. Lyndsey Valverde was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Don Lugo lost, one person who can't be blamed is Makena Encarnacion. Despite the final result, she scored five points.
Chino is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Don Lugo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.
Chino will head out on the road to challenge the Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Montclair is on a seven-game streak of home wins, the Cowboys a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Don Lugo will take on the Braves at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Baldwin Park comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
