Blue Ridge and Show Low are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2016, but not for long. The Yellow Jackets will face off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Show Low took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Blue Ridge, who comes in off a win.
Blue Ridge's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Apache Junction 40-0. The Yellow Jackets pushed the score to 33-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Prospectors had no chance of recovering from.

Blue Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Breckan Sarchet, who picked up 73 receiving yards, and also rushed for 72 yards on only eight carries. Karlo Harris was in the mix as well, providing the Yellow Jackets with two TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Blue Ridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 209 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.
Blue Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brenton Newcomb and Waylon Peters.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Show Low's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Round Valley. The matchup was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Cougars couldn't quite close it out.
Even if they lost, Show Low's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zander Perez, Dax Clark, and Talen Slone, who each picked up one sack apiece. Cameron Hernandez got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Blue Ridge now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Show Low, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Harris and Jett Walker. Harris just won't slow down this season and has run in 7 touchdowns while averaging 108.8 rushing yards per game. Walker has been a dominant force too and has averaged 61.3 rushing yards per game.
Blue Ridge couldn't quite finish off Show Low in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 and fell 21-18. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
