Basketball Game Preview: Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders vs. Victory Christian Academy Knights

The Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders are taking a road trip to take on the Victory Christian Academy Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

On Wednesday, Mater Dei Catholic earned a 53-43 win over Bishop's.

It was another big night for Promise Martin, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 23 rebounds. Those 23 boards gave her a new career-high. Jordyn Worley was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

Mater Dei Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Victory Christian Academy against Bonita Vista on Wednesday as the squad secured a 62-14 victory. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Barons are ranked 966th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Victory Christian Academy has also been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Mater Dei Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.

Mater Dei Catholic came up short against Victory Christian Academy when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 45-33. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Victory Christian Academy's Mai'Ana Norita, who shot 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards.
